I used materials from this site as a supplement for my course work on Information Theory. The princial text for the course was was "Elements of Information Theory by Thomas Clover".

The book was quite clear as was my Instructor "Dr. Richard Dean", but the materials on the Open Course ware site provided additional motovation for understanding topics that I struggled with. Great resource.

Another great resource is Connexions. This is even more cool than the MIT OCW in that it allows collaboration in the ope source sense. Anyone can contribute resources and anyone can use it. Kind of like the Wikipediaof education. Connexion is provided by Rice University. Real nice

Open Learning Support, OSLO Group, is a self-managed community system provided by professors at Utah state to support Connexions and MIT OCW. Its a community forum for supporting educationist of all creed.

These initiatives will go a long way in bridging the educational gap between poor and rich countries, if Internet is made affordable in the poor countries. At least for educationists in the poor countries.
